There’s something really special about being welcomed into your little bubble just hours after your baby arrives. You’re counting their toes, figuring out whose nose they’ve inherited, and probably still looking at them thinking, “You were just in my belly. How are you here?”

Sometimes, we’re among your very first visitors. Sometimes, we’re the first and only ones! And while you’re still getting to know this tiny person who’s just changed everything, you make room for us, too. That means more to us than you know. These are your first hours together...tender, a little blurry, and entirely your own. Being trusted to photograph them is an honour we’ll never take lightly. Because yes, we want to remember those tiny toes and sleepy little faces. But we want you to remember yourselves in these moments, too. The way you lean in for another look. The way your baby settles against your chest. The glances you exchange, as if to say, “We made this little person.”

And underneath it all, that lovely, slightly unbelievable feeling: You’re here. We finally get to meet you.

Fresh48 Photo Montage

Those first hours have a funny way of feeling unforgettable and a little blurry all at once. There’s so much to take in — and let’s be honest, probably not much sleep helping you take it in. 🤍

Our Fresh48 photo montage brings a little of that time together in a gentle, 60-second slideshow, made entirely from still photographs taken in the hospital during your baby’s first 48 hours.

Set to music and thoughtfully edited, it’s filled with the little things: your baby tucked into your arms, the tiny features you keep inspecting, and the quiet cuddles between feeds.

A little piece of your first hours together, ready to revisit whenever you like. Because one day, you’ll wonder how they ever fitted on your chest like that — and you’ll get to press play.

What is a Fresh48 session?

A Fresh48 session captures your baby and your family in those first 48 hours after birth, while you’re still getting acquainted with the tiny person who’s just become the centre of everything.

Unlike a posed newborn session, there’s no getting baby into position or asking you to do much beyond getting comfortable together. We follow your little one’s lead — milk breaks, cuddles, nappy changes and all. We keep things simple, without styled wraps or props. Their hospital onesie is lovely, and so is the little outfit you’ve carefully packed for them. If there’s a special blanket that means something to your family, we’d love to include it, too. No elaborate wardrobe needed... although we fully understand if choosing that first onesie took longer than packing the rest of your hospital bag! 🤍

Your baby doesn’t need to perform, and neither do you. Honestly, they’ve just arrived and you’ve just given birth. We’d say you’ve both done plenty. So feed them. Settle them against your chest. Study that little face for the hundredth time. We’ll photograph the moments as they unfold. It’s not about making these first hours look perfect. It’s about helping you remember what it felt like to be there; tired eyes, full hearts, and a whole new person to love.

The little things you’ll want to remember

Those tiny fingers, wrinkly feet, and squishy new cheeks? Of course we’re photographing those. You’ve spent months wondering what this little person would look like, and there’s a lot to admire. But we’re watching for the other little things, too. Your hand resting on their head. Your partner leaning in for another look, even though they literally just looked. The sleepy cuddle after a feed, when everyone finally gets a moment to settle.

You don’t need to do anything special for these moments to matter. There’s no checklist to work through, and nobody needs to smile at the camera. Sometimes, your favourite photograph will be the simplest one: your baby asleep on your chest, your hand tucked around them, while you take a little breather together. Nothing posed. Nothing extra. Just a moment you’re glad you get to keep.

You don’t have to feel camera-ready

You’ve just had a baby. Finding your makeup bag or something nice to wear really doesn’t need to be your next assignment. You’ve done the big thing, mama. If a little makeup and a fresh outfit help you feel more like yourself, go for it! If you’d rather stay in your comfy clothes with your hair in whatever bun is currently holding it together, that’s absolutely fine, too!

And please don’t worry about tidying everything before we arrive. You’re getting to know your baby, not preparing the room for a hotel inspection. We’ll work around the bits and pieces. We’ll take things gently, with plenty of room for feeds, nappy changes, a breather, or another cuddle. There’s no need to push through if you or your little one need a pause. We’re not there to take over these first hours or give you more to do. We’re there to help you remember them, while you get on with being together.

Why we love photographing Fresh48 sessions

There’s something about meeting a family when everyone is still figuring each other out. You’re learning how your baby likes to be held, working out those tiny nappy tabs, and discovering that even a sleepy stretch can bring the whole room to a standstill. They’re very good at making everything about them already. These might feel like ordinary little moments at the time. But they’re also the beginnings of things you’ll soon do without thinking; the way you scoop them up, settle them against you, or reach for their hand.

We don’t need to turn any of it into a production. We get to notice what’s already happening and give you photographs to come back to when that tiny person no longer fits quite so neatly on your chest.

Seeing how much love you’ve shown our Fresh48 photographs, and hearing from more families who want these first hours captured, has meant so much to us. We’re so grateful you’re making room for us in your little bubble — and we can’t wait to share more of this part of our work. 🤍

The Team

We’re Yuyeth and Timothy Fernandez, the husband-and-wife team behind Bows and Ribbons Photography. We each bring our own eye, ideas, and strengths to our work. So while one of us might be photographing those impossibly tiny toes, the other might notice the look on your face as you count them again.

That’s what we love about Fresh48 sessions: there’s room for both. The little details you want to remember and the moments you might not even realise are happening.

Being welcomed into your first hours together is something we’ll never take lightly. We’re there to make you feel comfortable, follow your family’s pace, and help you keep a little of what it felt like when you first met.
